MacBook Trackpad Two Fingers Scroll

MACBOOK JUNKIE’S TWO FINGERS SCROLL SETTING: ON WITH INERTIA

The Trackpad Two Fingers Scroll setting allows you scroll through a web page, document, or App (such as iphoto) without having to use the scrollbar. When Two Fingers Scroll is enabled, you can, for example, hover over a web page and scroll up, down, left or right provided there is somewhere to scroll to.

If there is no vertical scrollbar, you will not be able to scroll up and down. If there is no horizontal scrollbar, you will not be able to scroll left and right. This is okay. If there is no scrollbar, it simply means you are already seeing everything there is to see and therefore, there is nowhere for you to scroll to.

Once you enable Two Fingers Scroll, you can decide whether you want to use it with Inertia or without Inertia. When used without Inertia, scrolling stops as soon as your fingers stop moving. When used with Inertia, you are able to continue scrolling after lifting your fingers by flicking your fingers quickly over the trackpad.

You are also able to adjust the Scrolling Speed for Two Fingers Scroll so that it operates at a speed you are comfortable with.

I really like Two Fingers Scroll because it allows me to flow through my work without ever having to stop to locate, click, and move the scrollbar.

You can see Apple’s video example of Two Fingers Scroll by hovering over the Two Fingers Scroll option in your Trackpad Preferences Pane.
